Thea - "Daddy, why do you have hair on your stomach?"

Go here
I read this today and it made me think about many things. I would like to read this book and maybe my friend J could help me out with this???????
When I think about my single friends I have mixed emotions. I love them dearly and admire each of them for who they are and what they are doing with their lives. Yet I know they have particular struggles that singleness brings. I also know that they have freedoms that I cannot enjoy in my walk with the Lord right now. And by freedoms, I don't mean the ability to go to a movie on a whim, or sleep in on a Saturday morning. I mean freedoms like being able to choose which ministry to be involved in at church (without having to balance the needs/schedule of others) or perhaps serving somewhere abroad. Or even the ability to give significant time, prayer, energy and completed thoughts to these decisions.
So whether you are single or newly married or married with children, may you earnestly seek to know your calling and fulfill it to the fullest. And by calling I don't mean this huge ominous lifetime commitment. I mean taking each day at a time seeking God and His strength to lead you to and through each moment according to His will.
This is not as eloquent as I would have hoped, but the link is. What I am trying to say is that I resonate with the thoughts expressed in that there link!!

A Legal Rotation
Big news in the Rohrer household. Sadie is now LEGALLY facing forward in her car seat. Why is this such big news and why the emphasis on the legality of it you ask? Well, a child needs to weigh 20 lbs or more AND be 1 year of age by law to face forward. Well my kids have the turning 1 thing down, its the weighing 20 lbs that they have trouble with. So, with Sammy and Thea, we decided to break the law and face them forward soon after their first birthdays even though they didn't yet meet the weight requirement. If we would have waited, Sammy would have been close to 2 years old and we would have been able to turn Thea...umm.......yesterday....maybe. Don't get me wrong, I was well prepared to be a rebel without a cause once again and turn Sadie regardless of her weight, so I bought Thea a booster seat (the kind that has the 5 point harness option for now), and was going to move Sadie into Thea's seat, but I decided to find out how much she weighs just for the heck of it. The result SHOCKED me.
Drum roll please.....................................................................
A WHOPPING 22 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot believe we have a child that weighs that much so early. Seriously, I think Thea weighs 26lbs or something. I wonder if she will be the first to break the 15th percentile before age 4. Sammy has kinda caught up for his age.
As we rejoice over Sadie's weight gain, I am pleased to announce I have lost 3lbs 4oz. since starting the "D". And let me tell you, that is the only thing that kept me from diving into the carbolicious treats served at our friends housewarming party last night. We got outta Dodge as soon as she brought out the strawberry shortcake. UUUUGGHHHH!!!!!

Another First for (not so) Lil Ol Me
.jpg)
The "D" word. I hate this word. I wouldn't even utter it when Sammy asked me why I won't try his biscuit with pumpkin butter. I simply said "Mommy can't have that right now." OK, so I am exaggerating a little. If you haven't guessed the word is DIET. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against watching what you eat, cutting back or even depriving yourself of sweet treats, I just hate the idea of diets. For good reason. I live by my mother's motto of "everything in moderation". But that motto ain't giving me the confidence I need to get into my fun bathing suits for our upcoming cruise.
It's all Mike's fault. It was HIS idea. We are doing the South Beach Diet. Today is the first OFFICIAL day. Mike wanted to jump right in on Tuesday when we got back from NY, so I went with it. I call it our ghetto south beach day. I HAD NOTHING IN THE HOUSE that fit into the diet so I was shaking and STARVING to death by afternoon. Not to mention the headache. So I quit and told him I will start after I go to the grocery store and stock up on the neccessities. So, last night I stocked up and the day is going great. We'll see how I feel in a couple days or tomorrow night at Pizza night when I will ACTUALLY have to pass on the pizza and just "enjoy" the salad sans croutons. What have I gotten myself into? Hopefully a fun bathing suit.
But for reals, the menu options are quite appetizing and it does not seem at all that I will need to starve myself. I am looking forward to, for the first time, detoxing myself of carbs and sugar. Oh wait, I must confess that I will still enjoy my International Delight creamer in my coffee each morning. Speaking of which, when I first started telling my friends about my new endeavor, I declared I would NOT be giving up my creamer OR my cereal in the morning. Well, I learned who my TRUE friends are. My friends A and Di, who are both familiar with the SB Diet, just laughed and let me make my own decisions. I am a grown woman afterall. No pun intended. Now, my UNTRUE friend (you know who you are) looked me dead in the eye and said "You have to." I said " I won't." She said "You have to." And then went on to explain how I would be setting myself up for failure if I didn't give up my precious cereal, blah, blah, blah. Well, Ms. UNTRUE friend, I ate a breakfast of eggs and turkey bacon this morning and I really enjoyed it.
So thanks.
I guess.
So there ya go. The latest and greatest from the worst blogger in the world. I know I owe you all an explanation. An explanation of my awesome Summer. I PLAN to post about each of excursions bit by bit so I won't feel overwhelmed.
See you soon.
