Happy? 4th

Well it was a wet one here. I would split our day into 2 halves.

Part I

The kids had swim lessons in the morning at camp. So we packed up the gang and headed on out. The weather held out, so our time there was great. We stayed for lunch and got to chat with lots of friends. I love going out to camp.

Part II

We left after lunch so the kids could get their naps. We planned to go to Annapolis for the Naval Academy Fireworks as is our yearly tradition and it is usually a late night. So naps were IMPERATIVE. We got home and put the kids down. Thea usually jumps into her crib and we don't hear from her again for at least 2 hours. Well on the 4th, she had a coughing fit that prevented a nap. Sammy failed to sleep as well. Oh boy, it was going to be a long night.
Turns out, it didn't matter since it rained the whole night and we never made it to Annapolis.... or the fireworks. I was very disappointed since I look forward to this all year. But to take 2 napless children and a newborn out in the rain didn't sound at all appealing.
So, Daddy to the rescue. Mike ran out and bought some overly-priced fireworks to light in the driveway. I set up a dessert picnic in the living room and we made the most of it. I'm so glad our kids are so flexible with change of plans.

I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating our nation's independance!
